Pro Bono attorney for guardians ad litem representing abused or neglected children in child protection cases



Kasia Park is a member of the firm’s Trial Services Group concentrating her practice in the areas of civil rights and commercial litigation. Kasia defends police officers against claims brought under 42 U.S.C. § 1983, including claims of excessive force. She has served as defense counsel to Maine municipalities and counties to defend employees of those entities charged with civil rights violations. Kasia also provides counseling and litigation services to public and private colleges and universities on issues and complaints arising under federal laws, including Title IX of the Civil Rights Act. Kasia has advised and supported institutions of higher education during investigations by the Office for Civil Rights and compliance reviews by the U.S. Department of Justice. She also conducts independent Title IX investigations into sexual misconduct complaints.

Prior to joining Drummond Woodsum, Kasia worked at Pierce Atwood where she focused her practice on complex commercial cases representing clients from various industries including banking, energy, and insurance. In 2014, Kasia received the Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award for contributing the highest number of pro bono hours through her work as an attorney for guardians ad litem representing abused or neglected children in child protection cases.

While in law school, Kasia served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Kermit V. Lipez of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and interned at the International Association of Privacy Professionals. Upon graduation, Kasia was the recipient of the Faculty Significant Achievement Award.
