NUTS AND BOLTS OF PROCESSING EMPLOYEE REQUESTS RELATED TO SCHOOL REOPENING AMIDST COVID-19

August 10, 2020

While the coronavirus pandemic continues, New Hampshire school districts are moving forward with planning for the 2020-2021 school year utilizing a remote instruction model, an in-person instruction model, or a hybrid model. This planning has been complicated by, among other things, employee requests for accommodation or leave. Districts face the challenge of assessing these employee requests in the context of new and pre-existing federal leave and anti-discrimination laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act and leave laws created by the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.

During this 1 and 1/2-hour program, we will provide an organizational strategy to guide districts in responding to employee requests for leave and requests for reasonable accommodations. Additionally, attendees will receive a written memorandum providing a detailed road map of our recommended analytical process.
