Drummond Woosdum attorney Tim Steigelman presented at the Arctic Futures Institute’s 2018 summer institute. Tim’s presentation addressed the overlapping international and domestic legal regimes in the region with a focus on maritime law and environmental disasters, including ship owner and cargo owner interests.
This year’s summer institute was entitled “Arctic Law, Science & Policy,” and Tim’s fellow presenters included representatives from the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars, the Naval War College, and the Maine Army National Guard. The Arctic Futures Institute (AFI) is a joint initiative between three Maine-based partners: the Center for Oceans & Coastal Law of the University of Maine School of Law, the Climate Change Institute of the University of Maine, and the World Ocean Observatory. The three founding AFI institutions are a unique combination of science, law, policy and outreach based in Maine.
