About

A Maine native, Tom Trenholm delivers industry-leading legal advice on a wide range of labor, employment and school law matters. Tom primarily works with schools, water districts, housing authorities, and municipalities. Drawing on his deep experience and practical nature, Tom helps his clients save money and manage complicated personnel situations, and will support them in litigation if that is deemed necessary.

As an employment attorney, Tom helps employers negotiate collective bargaining agreements and employee leave policies, and successfully resolve thorny employment issues such as discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination claims; wage and hour issues; and employee misclassification. Tom also frequently presents at events for public school superintendents and administrators and provides customized training and seminars on various employment issues. Tom finds it immensely rewarding to advocate for high-quality public education in his home state of Maine.

Tom is a third-generation family-farmer from central Maine and appreciates being able to help Maine farmers and small business owners. He assists farms, family businesses and agri-businesses on a variety of legal issues.

Tom is also deeply involved in using his skills to improve his community. He is a member of the Katahdin Counsel Recognition Program, which honors pro bono legal service in Maine. He was recognized for his work with the Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project, receiving the organization’s Outstanding Service Award in 2013. Tom has also served as the treasurer for Shalom House, and as the secretary of the Maine Law Alumni Association.
